10 'civilians' killed in Orakzai

ORAKZAI AGENCY - At least 10 persons including five children and four women were killed while five others including three children and two women sustained serious injuries here in an air strike on Ferozkhel Mela area on Friday. However, official reports say that nine militants were killed and three others were wounded.
According to details, gunship helicopters and fighter jets of the security forces pounded the houses of Malik Zikria Khan, Malik Farmanullah, Mehboob Khan and Irshad Mehmood mistakenly in the outskirts of Lower Orakzai Agency, which resulted in the killings of 10 innocent persons while five others got injured. The official reports said that nine militants were killed and three others were wounded, while four hideouts and two vehicles of the suspected militants were also destroyed in the air strikes.
The residents started rescue operation after the attack to recover the dead and the injured from the debris of the houses. The injured were shifted to the hospital.
Later, hundreds of the Ferozkhel tribesmen staged a protest demonstration in Kalaya area against the killings of innocent people by the security forces. They demanded of the Government to stop targeting innocent people and provide financial assistance to the affectees immediately.
