Rumours to replace COAS a conspiracy: Presidency

Referring to the reports appearing in a section of press speculating that there was any move afoot to replace the COAS, the spokesman termed the reports as malicious and designed to vitiate the excellent relations between the presidency and the Pakistan Armed Forces.

He stated that selection of the COAS was made on merit and the President firmly believed that the three-year tenure of office of the COAS should never be violated. The spokesman regretted that such baseless rumours were being spread for vested interests.
