RAWALPINDI An Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) here on Wednesday formally indicted seven accused for their alleged involvement in Mumbai terrorist attack.
The ATC Judge Malik Muhammad Akram Awan framed charges against suspects Zaki-ur-Rehman Lakhvi, resident of Islamabad, Shahid Jameel Riaz, resident of Bahawalpur, Abdul Wajid alias Zarar Shah, resident of Sheikhupura, Mazhar Iqbal alias Abu al-Qama, resident of Islamabad, Hammad Amin Saddiq, resident of Karachi, Jamil Ahmed, a resident of Batagram, and Younas Anjum.
The accused, however, pleaded that they were not guilty and face the trial. The court fixed December 5 as the next date of hearing to record the statements of prosecution witnesses.
Earlier, prosecution had provided confessional statement of Ajmal Qasab, the main accused of Mumbai attack being tried in India, and other documentary evidences. According to details, these documents were provided to defence counsel during the proceedings of the case so that the accused could prepare their case.
