5,400 MW power shortfall in country
Source: Our STAFF REPORTER August 27, 2008 LAHORE - The country on Tuesday experienced shortfall of around 5,400 MW of electricity following the closure of 5 power houses owing to furnace oil shortage.
The sources told TheNation that Muzaffargarh Power House, Kot Addu Power Company (KAPCO) and Faisalabad Power Station remained closed.
They said that almost all the public power generation companies (GENCOs), which already were running under capacity were helpless and faced shutdown for want of fuel, the sources said.
They said that total generation capacity of Genco-III power plants which is 1,530 MW at present consists of TPS Muzafargarh, SPS Faisalabad, GTPS Faisalabad, NGPS Multan and GTPS Shahdara.
