LAHORE - Punjab Governor Salman Taseer on Tuesday warned Shahbaz Sharif government against using official resources and indulging in horse- trading for the forthcoming presidential election.

‘The Punjab administration and province’s resources would not be allowed to be used either in favour or disfavour of any Presidential candidate’, he said while addressing a news conference at Governor’s House here.

Senior Minister Raja Riaz, Finance Minister Tanvir Ashraf Kaira and Minister for Population Welfare, Neelum Jabbar accompanied him. Other PPP Ministers in the Punjab cabinet and some party MPAs including Qasim Zia were also present on the occasion.

In an implicit reference to PML-Q forward bloc in Punjab Assembly, Taseer said formation of blocs for the purpose of horse-trading would not be allowed. He said horse-trading was a curse and an undemocratic practice, which must be discouraged.

‘Today I summoned the Chief Secretary and the IGP and asked them to ensure that Punjab administration and official resources are not utilised in the coming Presidential election’, Governor told reporters, while adding,’we will not allow anybody to pressurise any MPA’.
