QUETTA - Floodwater coming from Nari bank has played havoc in Tambu tehsil of Naseerabad on Thursday destroying dozens of mud houses, agriculture fields and farms while five people including three children died of gastroenteritis in Dera Murad Jamali. Meanwhile, flash flood in Talli River on Thursday submerged Sultanpur and Talli area of district Sibi, washing away many houses.
According to reports, 112,000 cusecs water coming from Sindh through Nari bank caused more destruction in tehsil Tambu as dozens of mud houses caved in and many villages inundated. The historical city of Tambu Allahabad was also affected from the flood.
Sources said that a large number of people are marooned and waiting for governments help. Standing crops cultivated on thousands of acres land and farms were also badly affected by the floods.
On the other hand, five people, including three children and a woman died in Dera Murad Jamali and 120 more affected people were admitted to hospital.
Sources said that emergency was declared in Civil Hospital Dera Murad Jamali as three children, a woman and man died of gastro epidemic while 120 more affected persons were brought to the hospital.
Sources said that hundreds of cases of gastroenteritis, skin disease, eye infections and other waterborne diseases had been reported from different flood-hit areas. An official said that there was an acute shortage of medicines in hospitals and medical camps and demanded of the government for immediate provision of medicines so that outbreak of more disease could be prevented.
APP adds: Flash flood in Talli River submerged Sultanpur and Talli area of District Sibi, washing away many houses while continuous floodwaters flow to District Jaffarabad and Jhal Magsi from Tori Band along Indus River has inundated 15 more villages of Gandakha and Usta Muhammad.
Fresh flood current from Tori Band, and breach in Saifullah Magsi Canal has inundated more 15 villages of Gandakha and Suhbatpur including Goth Faisal Fakir, Goth Janan Jamali, Goth Jabalpur, Goth Raza Muhammad, Goth Ali Nawaz Nichari, Goth Sahb Khan Jamali, Goth Sajan Khan Jamali, Goth Taj Muhammad Marri, Goth Jumma Khan Marri, Goth Rustam Jamali, Goth Mewa Khan Jamali and Goth Aata Muhammad Jamali.
