US Embassy applies for vehicles' registration

ISLAMABAD - US Embassy has formally requested Ministry of Interior for the registration of bulletproof vehicles imported as a security measure for its staff.
It is pertinent to mention here that Interior Ministry had, earlier, directed the US Embassy administration to get the vehicles, which are already being used by US Embassy staff, registered by relevant department of the host country.
The US Embassy was given a deadline of November 30 in this regard, an official of Interior Ministry told this correspondent when contacted on Saturday. According to sources, the embassy administration has requested Interior Ministry for the registration of as many as 50 to 70 vehicles.
Spokesperson of US Embassy Richard Snelsire while confirming the report said, We have contacted Interior Ministry for registration of vehicles. However, he did not confirm the number of vehicles and the November 30 deadline.
