QUETTA - Governor Balochistan Nawab Zulfiqar Ali Magsi has categorically stated that no military operation
was going on in any part of the province. Deployment of Frontier Corps (FC) in Quetta is aimed at to improving
law and order situation, he said.
The Governor was talking to newsmen after drugs burning ceremony in connection with World Anti-Narcotic Day
here on Friday.
The Governor Balochistan reiterated and said that no military operation was being carried out in any part of the
province. Provincial government called Frontier Corps to maintain law and order situation in the city, he
maintained.
However, he said that deployment of FC in Quetta would be a temporary solution to problems and stressed upon
the need that a durable solution of problems should be devised.
The Governor said the ANF having immense difficulties and less strength of personnel was playing a vital role in
elimination of narcotics. He said that 0.5 million people were drug addicts in the country and every year their
number was increasing because of its cheaper rates. He stressed upon people to take steps individually for the
curbing drugs. NGOs should also play their role for the welfare of addicts, he added. Commander ANF Brig
Saleem Mehmood said that ANF was making its all out efforts to curb smuggling of narcotics and save new
generations from this curse. He informed that ANF in different raids seized 8681 kg morphine, 2335 kg heroin,
33322 kg hashish and hundreds of wine bottles.
