LAHORE - PML-N Quaid Nawaz Sharif has said that real politicians cannot be kept away from the political arena by registering fake cases against them and court verdict in his favour has exposed 'dictatorial regime formula to sideline the polilticians.
In an interview with Nawa-i-Waqt from London on Friday, he said only genuine politicians can guarantee solidarity and integrity of the country as Pakistan came into being by the struggle of a politician. The politicians had made the countrys defence impregnable and God willing, we will now make Pakistan economically strong, he added.
He said the whole world knew what was the purpose of engineering cases against him. A dictator who used to show his fist to his countrymen is now wandering here and there and even his close associates have turned against him. He said he was sure had his government not been toppled in 1999 by a military dictator, lingering Kashmir issue would have been resolved and the country would not have been facing problems like loadshedding, price-hike, unemployment and there would have been no threat of terrorism.
He said only those verdicts prove affective and result-oriented which represent peoples sentiments, adding that his parliamentary and democratic role is linked to national interest.
We have clear stance that instead of indulging in politics of confrontation, we should use political strength in national interest and our energy for strengthening of democratic institutions. We are stressing upon the PPP to resolve conflicts through dialogue especially Balochistan issue and steps must be taken to end sense of deprivations in that province, he added.
Nawab Akbar Bugtis only crime was that he wanted resolution of problems. He was in favour of Pakistan but he was not ready to accept dictatorship. A dictator took revenge and fanned hatred among people of Balochistan. We think that this hatred can be removed by taking concrete steps.
To a question when would he play his political role, Nawaz said, whom people like, dictators cannot create hurdles in his way. By foreseeing peoples sentiments, I can say that no one can take decisions against peoples will. PML-N would not make system destabilise. We are bound to Charter of Democracy. He regretted that had the government implemented CoD, we would have been able to solve problems in a better way and the country would have been on the path of prosperity.
To an other query, he said judges reinstatement is due to struggle of political parties and the people. Answering a question about former President Pervez Musharraf, he said with the departure of Musharraf, evils like cruelty, injustice and lie have gone forever.
He said he wanted operation in Buner, Dir and Swat result-oriented so that political process could be started in these areas. He added that if anyone challenges writ of the state, action must be taken against him as delay in action leads to anarchy. When quizzed about his stance over military operation in Malakand, he said our stance is linked to national interest.
He said his party wanted immediate halt to drone attacks as they create negative feelings among the area people. Answering another question, he said he was not the one who gets disappointed as troubles and difficult hours awake nations. We must show courage, he added.
