At Least 2 killed, 8 injured in Quetta car bomb blast: police

A car bomb exploded in the insurgency-hit southwestern Pakistani city of Quetta on Monday, killing at least two people and wounding eight others, police said. The blast at a busy road in the government offices area in Quetta, the capital of gas-rich Baluchistan province, also destroyed several rickshaws, cars and a pick-up truck. "The bomb was planted in a car which went off with a big bang during rush hour. Initial reports say two people were killed, including a policeman," local police chief Rehmatullah Niazi said. Some of the eight wounded were in serious condition, he added. There was no immediate claim of responsibility, but similar bombings have been blamed on separatist, secular tribal rebels in Baluchistan, which borders Afghanistan and Iran.
