ISLAMABAD Reiterating countrys commitment to policy of peaceful coexistence with all its neighbours, Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani has said that Pakistan is committed to serious, sustained and constructive talks with India for the settlement of all disputes including the core issue of Kashmir.
In his vote of thanks to Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan following his address to the joint sitting of the Parliament on Monday afternoon, Premier Gilani expressed the resolve of people of Pakistan in the fight against terrorism and militancy and vowed to spare no sacrifice to defeat the designs of those non-state actors.
The people of Pakistan value their dignity and honour. They are resolute and will spare no sacrifice to defeat the designs of the enemies of Pakistan, he said.
Our brave Armed Forces are rendering exemplary services in the ongoing law enforcement operation against terrorists and militants. The whole nation stands united behind them, Gilani remarked. He said that both Turkey and Pakistan had suffered from terrorism, adding the whole nation was united against the evil forces which were out to destroy the countrys peace.
The Prime Minister said the success of Malakand operation, besides the sacrifices of valiant Armed Forces, owed itself to the complete consensus and political will displayed by political elite. He particularly commended the opposition parties for their expression of unity and putting aside their differences to pursue this important national cause.
With this national consensus, we will not let the terrorists get away with their cowardly acts. We are determined to take action wherever the writ of government is challenged, he added.
He, however, stressed for effective check by the NATO and ISAF forces in Afghanistan on cross border infiltration and supply of arms to militants. It is imperative for NATO and ISAF forces in Afghanistan to remain vigilant and effectively curb cross border infiltrations and supply of arms to terrorists and militants, he remarked.
Prime Minister Gilani said that in a nuclearised South Asia, Pakistan would maintain a credible minimum nuclear deterrence and would continue to advocate strategic restraint in the region and the importance of maintaining regional strategic stability.
He, however, maintained that Pakistan would continue to cooperate with the international community to promote the goals of non-proliferation but would never compromise on its vital strategic interests, sovereignty and integrity.
Prime Minister Gilani said Pakistan wanted to live and let others live peacefully. We are a responsible nuclear state and have an effective command and control system, he added.
