GUJRANWALA - Chief Minister Punjab Mian Mohammad Shahbaz Sharif during his surprise visit at Ramazan
Bazaars has suspended DCO Gujra-nwala and TOR Nandipur Town besides other staff concerned over poor
performance.
The Chief Minister paid a surprise visit on Thursday morning to three Ramazan bazaars including Dhullay
Ramazan Bazaar, Shaheen-abad and Peoples Colony in the area and noticed that flour and sugar were not
being sold there while hundreds of people were waiting under burning sun without any shelter. The land was also
badly affected by the sewerage and rain water.
He expressed his anger and apologised the masses over mismanagement and suspended DCO Dr Ijaz Munir,
TOR Nandipur and other staffers concerned with immediate effect.
The CM vowed to provide all commodities including flour and sugar at fixed rates besides providing them
shelter.
He said government was working to facilitate the poor in Ramazan and warned the administration of stern action
against any negligence.
He directed the commissioner to personally monitor the Sasta Bazaars and provide relief to the masses.
Its worth mentioning here that most of the administration, members of national and provincial assemblies were
not aware of his visit and joined the CM later on.
A large number of poor women also appealed the chief minister for justice and complaint about police, revenue
department and shortage of edibles in markets.
Meanwhile, Punjab government has extended the powers of DCO to Commissioner Gujranwala Khalid Masood
till further orders after the visit of chief minister who had summoned a meeting of all TMOs.
