MUZAFFARABAD - Kashmiris on both sides of Line of Control (LoC) and around the world observed Black Day on Tuesday to condemn India for illegally occupying their homeland on the night of October 27, 1947 in blatant violation of international principles.
In this connection, seminars, public meetings and protest rallies were held in Muzaffarabad.
Addressing a public meeting held under the auspices of Kashmir Liberation Cell here at Press Club, AJK Prime Minister Raja Farooq Haider condemned blatant aggression committed by the Indian forces in Kashmir on the night of October 27, 1947. The aggression, he said, was even not accepted by the UN Security Council when the then Indian Prime Minister Jawahar Lal Nehru, the architect of this aggression, went to UN to lodge complaint against Pakistan.
The Security Council, the AJK PM said, in its August 13, 1943 and January 5, 1949 resolutions had declared that future of the state would be decided through plebiscite to be held under the auspices of the UN.
He said the Indian government in violation of UNSC resolutions was still occupying a part of Kashmir state.
Raja Farooq Haider asked US President Barack Obama to honour his pledge made during his election campaign that after coming to power he would focus on resolution of Kashmir issue, as it was important for peace in South Asia.
The AJK Premier also urged big powers to play effective role for implementation of the Security Council resolutions. He said Kashmiris would continue their struggle for right of self-determination.
Meanwhile, a memorandum was presented to the UN observers headquarters calling upon the UN to ensure implementation of its resolutions.
