LPG price up by Rs13 per kg

By Ashraf Javed August 29, 2008

LAHORE - The Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) price has swelled to Rs 85 per kg from Rs 72 per kg here in the Punjab Capital on Thursday, as the  government has failed to control countrywide price-hike, leaving the masses at the mercy of profiteers, the market sources said.

Ironically, the LPG marketing companies say that the LGP distributors have increased the price without any solid justification while the distributors blamed the marketing companies for increasing the price of LPG.

‘Is there anyone to check this mess? Who is extorting billions of rupees from the consumers and even from the pockets of the poor rickshaw drivers?’ questioned Khadim Ali, a rickshaw driver, when contacted. He further said that the cartel of distributors and marketing companies is plundering billion of rupees from the pockets of consumers and are blaming each other.
