Lay down arms, Rehman asks Baloch fighters
Source: Our staff reporter August 29, 2008 QUETTA - Adviser to the Prime Minister on Interior Affairs Rehman Malik has asked armed fighters in Balochistan to lay down their arms.
Addressing a Press conference along with Chief Minister Balochistan Nawab Muhammad Aslam Khan Raisani prior to his departure for Islamabad, Rehman Malik said "We appeal to our annoyed brothers in Balochistan to lay down their arms."
He said that they should come and join the mainstream to serve Balochistan and Pakistan.
He said that PPP had started the process of reconciliation and PPP govt was trying to solve the problem of Balochistan politically.
He announced that names of all political personalities would be deleted from Exit Control List (ECL) and ,added, that name of Gazzain Marri, the son of Nawab Khair Bakhsh Marri will also be deleted from ECL and now he could come to Pakistan any time.
Responding to a question on this occasion, Chief Minister Balochistan Nawab Muhammad Aslam Khan Raisani said that his govt had announced the process of reconciliation. He said that ceasefire was necessary for success of process of reconciliation and ,added, that ceasefire should be bilateral.
He said that if there would be no ceasefire then there would be no reconciliation and dialogue.
