Pro-govt elder among 5 killed in suicide hit
BANNU - At least five persons including Maulana Abdul Hakim, a member of local peace committee, were killed
in a suicide attack here on Monday.
The member of Bakakhel Peace Committee, a pro-government group formed against the militants in the area,
Maulana Abdul Hakim was on his way to Bannu from Mandi Bakakhel along with his associates when his car
was targeted by a suicide bomber on Miranshah Road in Bakakhel area. As a result, Hakim, his guard and
driver, and two passers-by died on the spot, while six others including a woman got injured. The injured were
rushed to District Headquarter Hospital, Bannu. Soon after the attack, the law enforcement agencies cordoned
off the area.
