QUETTA - Three people were killed and four others sustained injuries in separate incidents of firing in Khuzdar and Nushki Monday.
According to sources, unknown assailants opened indiscriminate fire on a group of people in Pulchoto area, about 60 kilometres away from Nushki town, killing two people and injuring two others.
The deceased were identified as Abdul Baqi and Bangal, the residents of Quetta. The bodies and injured were shifted to hospital. The motive behind the killing is said to be a land dispute. The Levies Force personnel handed over the bodies to their heirs after completing legal formalities and launched search for the culprits.
In Khuzdar, a tribal leader was killed when he came under attack by gunmen at Farooq Chowk. Two people were wounded in the attack. The deceased was identified as Mujahid Zehri. Police say investigation was underway and enmity could be reason for the killing.
Meanwhile, a decomposed body was recovered from Zehri area of Khuzdar.
Locals informed police about the body, which was shifted to hospital. According to sources, the deceased was identified as Lal Bakhsh. The body bore multiple marks of torture. Police were investigating.
Meanwhile, the Frontier Constabulary on Monday claimed to have arrested a man accused of attacking Quetta Express which claimed five lives and injured 18 others.
According to FC sources, the FC personnel raided a house on a tip off and arrested one of the accused. Arms and ammunitions were also recovered from the house. The FC also seized a motorcycle that was probably used in the crime. At least five persons were killed and 18 others were injured in the armed attack carried out by four militants at Quetta express train on Sunday near Machh when the train was on its way to Quetta.
The FC said raids were being carried out to arrest the remaining three culprits and hoped they would be taken into custody soon.
