ISLAMABAD - An overwhelming majority of PML-Q leaders and lawmakers are unhappy over Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi's growing relations with PPP top brass and any power sharing deal between both parties in future is most likely to give rise to another noisy revolt in the party ranks.
"The majority of PML-Q parliamentarians seek the unification of PML factions and at more than numerous times have conveyed their heart feeling to party's central command", said a PML-Q MNA seeking not to be attributed. He noted that the efforts of Ch Pervaiz Elahi to forge an alliance with PPP in the Punjab as well as at the Centre would ignite another rebellion within fragile political entity.
He said that old Leaguers had the firm opinion that PML-Q could not go along PPP, as there was remarkable difference of ideology between the two political parties. "Most of the party workers and leaders want to return to mother party and hence have no tilt towards PPP for momentary political gains", he added.
Some stalwart party leaders including Ameer Muqam, Senator Salim Saifullah, Senator Muhammad Ali Durrani and others have started endorsing openly the initiative of PML factions' unification. Sources within Q-League told this scribe that party president, Ch Shujaat Hussain and secretary general, Mushahid Hussain Sayed were also favouring the close coordination between PML-N and 'Q'.
"PML-Q president has a very noticeable tilt towards PML-N but he does not endorse the idea of merger between PML-Q and 'N'. Shujaat supports the proposal of forging an alliance between PML factions as it would not kill the separate identity of Q-League", said the sources. As per sources, the reports of Ch Pervaiz Elahi's meeting with PML-N Quaid Mian Nawaz Sharif in Dubai that were refuted later on by both the parties' leaders, had sent the waves of satisfaction among PML-Q leaders.
Sources within PML-Q claimed that the difference of opinion between Ch Shujaat Hussain and Ch Pervaiz Elahi was further creating distrust among party parliamentarians. "When two cousins cannot solve their mutual differences, how would they lead the party?" said a PML-Q MNA. He criticized the possible plan of Ch Pervaiz Elahi of forming coalition government in the Punjab with the help of PPP saying, 'Elahi has so far failed to bring defiant PML-Q MPAs back in the party fold and till today more than 25 party MPs in the Provincial Assembly are standing with Shahbaz Sharif thus making the formation of PML-Q-PPP coalition government in the province impossible'.
Sources further told The Nation that many PML-Q leaders and lawmakers had called on PML-N's central leaders during the previous months in individual capacity and had assured them that they would oppose any such move within PML-Q that could harm N-League's political interests. "These people are in same wavelength with PML-N top brass and are opposing Elahi's plan to overthrow Shahbaz Sharif's government in the Punjab", sources claimed, adding that the same leaders were bridging gulfs between two groups of Pakistan Muslim League.
On the other hand, PML-Q forward bloc members in the National Assembly who had previously developed amicable relations with PPP central command at the eve of presidential election are now angry with PPP, as they consider that PPP did not induct them in the Federal Cabinet on the nod of Chaudhrys of Gujrat, therefore they have started developing contacts with PML-N. Reliable sources within forward bloc told this correspondent that the parliamentarians of the bloc would prefer going into an alliance with PML-N rather than entering into power sharing agreement with PPP.
