APDM gives Aug 31 deadline over judges
By NAVEED BUTT July 30, 2008 ISLAMABAD - All Parties Democratic Movement (APDM) has given 31st August as deadline to the government for restoration of deposed judges and impeachment of President Pervez Musharraf and has announced to hold countrywide strike on 1st September if its demands were not fulfilled.
“The APDM demanded that General (Retd) Pervez Musharraf must resign immediately, restore judiciary to the pre November 2, 2007 condition, restore the constitution of 12th November 1999 by rejecting constitutional package, and instantly stop the military operation in Balochistan and Tribal Areas and recover all missing persons across the country,” Mehmood Khan Achakzai told a news conference here on Tuesday.
Imran Khan, Liaquat Baloch, Rasool Bux Palejo, Dr Abdul Khai Baloch, Mian Muhammad Aslam and others were also present on this occasion.
Achakzai said that the APDM also demanded of the government to control the price hike, shortage of flour and electricity, law and order situation and ensure the safety of life, honour and property of the people. He demanded of the government to withdraw the hike in the prices of petrol, oil, electricity, gas, food commodities and fares of railways.
