FAISALABAD (Agencies) - At least two prisoners died while 12 were injured in clash with police while the jail superintendent has asked for more police contingent from the different police stations.
According to a TV channel, the prisoners of Faisalabad Jail staged a protest against the alleged torture by the jail superintendent due to which a clash occurred between police and prisoners. The reports stated that initially the police tried to control the riot through torture but failed. M Boota, a prisoner while talking to a private TV channel said police open firing on the prisoners due to which several prisoners got injured.
Meanwhile, Home Secretary suspended Superintendent, Addl Superintendent and Deputy Supdt Central Jail Faisalabad for gross misconduct and poor administrative control. Official sources told APP that Home Secretary Punjab taking serious note of indiscipline, poor control and inadequate security arrangements suspended Superintendent Qazi Aslam, Addl Supdt Sajjid Baig and Dy Supdt Nadeem and ordered high level inquiry against them. Tariq Babar, Additional Superintendent, Central Jail, Kotlakhpat, Lahore has been posted as Superintendent Central Jail, Faisalabad who has assumed the new responsibility.
