UN to withdraw children of staff in Islamabad: official

October 2, 2008

United Nations officials say the world body has raised its security level for the Pakistani capital after the truck bombing of Islamabad's Marriott Hotel. Three officials told on Thursday that U.N. Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon had approved the move. The order means international staff will no longer be allowed to live with their children in the capital. The officials spoke on condition of anonymity either because they are not authorized to speak to the media or they were awaiting an official announcement from U.N. headquarters in New York.
