$30b investments on energy projects in pipeline: Pervaiz Ashraf
August 3, 2008 Two-day regional conference on power import from the Central Asia has kicked off here today, while Pakistan said that investments amounting to $30 billion would be made on energy generation projects in the next seven years. The energy ministers of Pakistan, Afghanistan, Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan are attending the Central Asia-South Asia Inter-Government Council’s energy ministers’ conference that commenced here today. Later on, talking to the media, Raja Pervaiz Ashraf said that 16000MW of additional electricity would get into the system by 2015. He said that $10 billion in public sector, while $20 billion in private sector would be invested for power generation. He said that the load shedding was shortening and the situation by next month would further get better, while by the end of next year load shedding in the country would end.
