ISLAMABAD (APP) - Potohar Organization for Development Advocacy (PODA) has invited research papers on
a number of subjects to have a deep and wide understanding of the multi-dimensional lives of rural women.
The organization is planning to prepare a special publication to provide information on the situation of rural
women in the country that will be launched in the 2nd National Rural Women Conference to be held in October.
This will be a unique contribution towards bringing visibility to the work of rural women, said a news release
issued here Friday.
The main idea of the publication is to gather papers from diverse fields to show the contributions and challenges
of rural women and to facilitate recognition of rural women as a major asset to Pakistani society.
The primary objective of each paper is to highlight the role and contributions of rural women and show the role,
contributions, importance and impact of rural women’s participation in the development on the country.
The research paper is aimed to explain the socio, cultural, economic, political, practical and any other problems
that rural women face with regards to the subject of the paper. It would highlight the problems and needs of rural
women and make concrete recommendations on how to solve the problems identified in the paper and identify
the stakeholders in the solution process.
The authors are advised to write their papers within a human rights framework from the list of international
standards that the government of Pakistan has agreed to implement in the country.
The subjects include United Nations Convention on the Elimination of all forms of Discrimination against Women
(CEDAW) 1979, UN Declaration on the Elimination of Violence against Women 1993, UN General Assembly
