Unemployment - A nightmare

Unemployment is a major problem in Pakistan. When unemployment is high, resources go wasted and people's incomes decrease; during such periods, economic distress also spills over to affect peoples emotions and family life. Political instability, social unrest and economic insecurity is they result of unemployment. The link between unemployment and crime has also been well established.

In Pakistan unemployment rate is increasing in both rural and urban areas but in rural areas it is greater as compared to urban areas. Because of industries there are more chances of employment in urban areas. According to labour force survey 2006-2007, the rate of open unemployment was 6.50%.

The level of unemployment is moving up. Nationalization of industrial units very badly affected the investment industrial sector. Employment in private sector absolutely stopped for many years. Non-stop increasing population is also a main reason. Vacancies are less but job seekers are more than that. Our educational system is also responsible.
