Blood Bank at PIMS to be registered, licensed

ISLAMABAD- Islamabad Blood Transfusion Authority (IBTA) has formally registered Blood Bank at PIMS and approved to grant it license ,said a press release on Monday.  

The Blood Bank at PIMS has undergone many improvements this year. For the first time PIMS has started double-checking of blood of the donors. Blood is being screened at the facility for Hepatitis B & C, AIDS, Malaria and Syphilis.

Before getting the blood from potential donor, screening tests are carried out to check whether the donor is having any disease and if it tests positive, the donor is not allowed as it will not only be a waste but could also a source of spreading diseases among others including healthcare workers.
