Pak suffered over $5b losses in Oct 8 earthquake

Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani said on Wednesday that the October 8 earthquake was a national tragedy which affected the economic growth of country. He was speaking at the National Disaster Management Conference in Islamabad on the occasion of third anniversary of October 8 quake. Gilani said the country had suffered losses worth $5 billions due to the 8th October earthquake. The prime minister said that proper planning was required to deal with natural calamities, adding there was also need to enhance the technical capabilities of organizations formed to tackle such disasters. He added that we would have to build a strong warning system of flood and other catastrophes.
