'Pakistan-Iran need to fight terrorism jointly'

ISLAMABAD (APP) - Speaker National Assembly Dr. Fehmida Mirza on Friday said that Pakistan values its relations with Iran, as the two countries are bonded in the eternal ties of religion, culture and history and having commonality of views and perceptions on all regional and global issues.

She was talking to Iranian Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki who called on her in the Parliament House Friday.

The Speaker said that relations between Iran and Pakistan were centuries old and deep rooted that could be further strengthened through enhanced economic cooperation and exchange of parliamentary delegations.

She said that Islam is a religion of peace and tolerance that abhorred terrorism and extremism in all its forms and manifestation.  She underlined the need to fight the menace of terrorism jointly.

The Speaker said that the Muslim Ummah was confronting challenges that can be resolved through forging unity among the Muslim countries.
