Rawalpindi Board: Half the candidates fail HSSC exams

RAWALPINDI - Boys secured overall top three positions in Higher Secondary School Certificate (HSSC-Part II) Examination 2008, held under the auspices of Rawalpindi Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (RBISE), according to the results announced at a ceremony held at a local school on Benazir Bhutto Shaheed Road here on Friday.

The result percentage was 50.94 as out of 43,576 candidates, who appeared in the examination, 21,756 were declared successful.

In this ceremony, Provincial Minister for Prisons Chaudhry Abdul Ghafoor Khan was the chief guest whereas RBISE Chairman Dr Iftikhar Ahmed Baig, Secretary Prof Hammayun, Controller Prof Azam Khalid, Media Manager Arslan Cheema, Director Colleges Ulfat Mehmood Janjua, MPAs Zia Ullah Shah and Malik Yasir Raza, President Professors and Lecturers Assosiation Prof Ilyas Qureshi along with heads of the institutions of the position holders, students and their parents were also present.

According to the results, Saqib Ali of Kallar Kahar Science Higher Secondary School for Boys, Kallar Kahar, Chakwal district, grabbed overall first position by getting 988 marks while Cadet College, Kallar Kahar, Muhammad Bilal Majeed and Ahmad Bilal Asghar from Cadet College Hassanabdal, Attock, secured second and third positions by scoring 987 and 983 marks respectively.

Moreover, the first position in Pre-Medical Groups (Girls) has been shared between Saira Mushtaq of Govt College for Women, Satellite Town, Rawalpindi and Mehwish Abbas from District Public Girls Higher Secondary School, District Complex, Chakwal, by obtaining 942 marks.

In same group among boys, Muhammad Bilal Majeed of Cadet College, Kallar Kahar, Chakwal, stood first position with 987 marks whereas Asad Pervez and Jibran Khalid of Cadet College, Hassanabdal, Attock, got second and third positions by getting 956 and 955 marks respectively.

Among girls in Pre-Engineering Group, Sidrah Javed of Govt College for Women, Satellite Town, Rawalpindi, was declared first with 963 marks while Quratul Ain of the same institution stood second position by obtaining 928 marks and Saira of Khurshid International Girls Intermediate College, Chakwal, got third position by scoring 918 marks.
