Rs 5,626.481m Pindi District Council budget presented amidst rowdyism

RAWALPINDI - The annual budget of District Council for the fiscal year of 2008-09 was presented here at a local hotel on GT Road here on Wednesday.

The total layout of the annual budget for the fiscal year of 2008-09 is Rs 5,626.481 million while the expenditures were Rs 5623.870 million.  

District Nazim Raja Javed Ikhlas chaired the budget session whereas Convener and Naib District Nazim Muhammad Afzal Khokhar, besides a number of members of the District Council were also present on the occasion.

The treasury benches supported and accepted the budget for the fiscal year of 2008-09 while the opposition benches comprised PPP and PML-N members of the District Council, strongly condemned and also rejected the budget.

It is pertinent to mention here that in this tense situation, created by opposition members, District Nazim Raja Javed Ikhlas could not carry out the traditional budget speech.

According to details, a sum of Rs 217.042 million has been allocated under ADP for the ongoing schemes.
