Work on Interchange awaits inauguration

ISLAMABAD - The Capital Development Authority (CDA) is all set to kick off construction work on Zero Point Interchange (ZPI), but waits for the Prime Minister to formally inaugurate the project.

A source in the civic body informed that the Authority had completed paper work and finalized design of the Rs 2.35 billion interchange project and the Karachi-based contractor of the project, Maqbool Associates, had mobilized construction machinery and vehicles to the site.

He said that the contractor was all ready to start construction work on the project but he said CDA was waiting for the Prime Minister to formerly inaugurate the interchange project at the gateway to the federal capital. In this regard, a request has been forwarded to the Prime Minister on Tuesday, he maintained. It is now up to the PM as to what date he chooses to inaugurate the project, he further said.
