Pakistan safe place for tourists, investors: Dr Skyhawk
By AZAM KHAN July 24, 2008 ISLAMABAD - Pakistan is a safe place for the tourists and the investors. There is no security risk anywhere in the country. People of the country are hospitable and warm welcoming, Dr Hugh Vam Skyhawk said in an exclusive interview with TheNation.
Dr Hugh Vam Skyhawk is a German national and Professor of comparative religion. He has been living here for more than 18 years and takes keen interest in the culture and heritage. He is also a Professor at Qaud-i-Azam University in the ‘Taxila Institute of Asian Civilization’.
He said, “I have spent 18 years in Pakistan, including 13 years stay at FATA and FANA, Northern Areas, and wrote two books in German about the culture and trends of the people of that area”.
“The deteriorating situation in the Federal Administrative Tribal Areas (FATA) is mishandling of the successive governments and due to criminal role of some foreign and domestic hands”, Dr Hugh Vam Skyhawk opined.
Elaborating his point of view, he said that his personal experience suggests that there were no security risks in the FATA region. He criticised the tribal picture portrayed by Pakistani and American authorities. Skyhawk termed it an international conspiracy against Pakistan to divide the country into multiple ethnic and religious groups.
