Legislation on cards to end violence against women

ISLAMABAD (APP) - Acting President Dr Fehmida Mirza on Tuesday said no society can progress without the participation of women in all walks of life, and stressed the need for adopting measures to end violence against women.
The Acting President was speaking at the launching of campaign card on ‘Say no to violence against Women’ organised by United Nations Development Fund for Women (UNIFEM) in commemoration with International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, at Aiwan-e-Sadar here.
Dr Mirza said the democratic government was committed to the empowerment of women and protection of women’s rights, adding that legislation to protect women from domestic violence and harassment at workplace was on the cards.
