'Farmers should use new methods'

ISLAMABAD - Agricultural Extension Services (AES) Department of Islamabad Capital Territory Administration (ICTA) organised 2-day training course for the farmers of Capital Territory at National Agriculture Research Centre (NARC), Chak Shahzad from November 24 to 25.
Over 2,800 farmers participated in the training course where they were trained about the new methods of farming. DG, NARC, Dr Iftikhar distributed certificates among the participants of training course at a concluding ceremony on Wednesday.
While speaking on the occasion, he lauded the efforts of Agriculture Extension Services of ICTA for launching training courses for the farmers of Islamabad and introducing new technology for the development of agriculture in the area.
Director AES Islamabad, Qaddus Malik while speaking on the occasion said that the Agriculture Extension Services of ICTA had launched many training courses for the farmers to introduce new technology during sowing seasons of Rabi and Kharif Crops as well as increasing the production of crops in the area. He informed that on the special directions of Chief Commissioner Islamabad Fazeel Asghar, the agriculture department of ICTA had also launched a number of new projects for the promotion of agriculture in the area.

The department plans to construct 23 mini dams, 25 retaining walls, 11 green houses, 03 veterinary hospitals, 15 fish ponds and 100 water courses during this year. The department also plans to train 6300 farmers on modern lines during this year.
