5-year school nutrition project's fate hangs in balance
By ASMA GHANI October 25, 2008 ISLAMABAD- The Planning Commission has deferred a five-year “School Nutrition Programme for Government Girls Primary Schools” which was due to be launched by the Education Ministry in the current financial year following the alleged 3.6 billion scam in the “Tawana Pakistan Project” execution.
Though the programme has been postponed mainly due to the lack of funds but the vacant portfolio of education minister was also one of the main reasons for the deferment of the food nutrition programme. The Planning Commission has dropped launching of the programme until the appointment of the education minister so that the proper execution of the project can be ensured.
