PM dissatisfied over potable water quality
September 25, 2008 ISLAMABAD (APP)- Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani while expressing dissatisfaction over the Clean Drinking Water Programme, constituted a committee to thoroughly examine the progress of the programme and submit its report within one month.
He was chairing a meeting especially called to review the performance of the Clean Drinking Water Programme at the Prime Minister’s House Thursday.
The programme was initiated by the previous government in 2004.The Prime Minister said the provision of clean drinking water is high priority of the government and all out efforts would be made to achieve this objective. He, however, observed that the project was initiated in haste without proper feasibility study and due consultative process with all stakeholders. He expressed disappointment over the dismal progress of the programme and said that the project which should have been completed by December 2007 is only three per cent complete.
