Senior official, family manhandled
By SIKANDER SHAHEEN August 27, 2008 Dr Saeed alleged that Joint Estate Officer Obaid-ud-Din started threatening him to vacate the house a few days ago. Therefore, he had to take stay order from the civil court against the evacuation of the residence. “On August 15, the civil court granted us stay against evacuation.
The stay was valid till August 25 with the notice to other party. The court had ordered for further proceedings but didn’t suspend the stay order till September 3, 2008,” said the Director and mentioned that stay order was valid till next hearing.
The Senior Director of CDA said that despite the stay order from the court against the evacuation, the abuse of power on part of Joint Estate Officer deemed to be contempt of court. “I would sue them in the court in two separate cases; one for harassment and insult, and the other for contempt of court,” he vowed.
Saeed said that he and his wife were very senior government officials and had been serving in the CDA for over three decades.
He said he had not received such derogatory behaviour throughout his life. “My wife is suffering from Hepatitis C and the physicians have asked us to prevent her from tension and stress. But due to the constant threats by Obaid, she has been in the state of mental agony for the last few days and her health has deteriorated very rapidly,” he added.
