SIMs to be issued after verification from Nadra: Talha

ISLAMABAD - Senator Talha Mehmood said that new cell phones' SIMs would be issued after a detailed verification from Nadra, in order to eradicate the issuance of bogus SIMs.

He was addressing a press conference at his office here on Thursday.

The PPP Senator, who is also Chairman of Standing Committee of Senate on Interior, said that he had a meeting with the Chief Executive Officers (CEO's) of all the mobile companies to discuss several issues. "I had a successful meeting with the top representatives of U-fone, Warid, Mobilink, Zong and Telenor", he stated

While elaborating details of the meeting, Talha Mehmood said that all the CEO's had pledged to assure their full co-operation to eradicate unauthorized cellular SIMs.

 "It's very encouraging that mobile companies are investing a lot in our country and are providing jobs to our people, but they have to operate within the law of our land and they have pledged to do so", he noted.
