47 police beats to cut crime

ISLAMABAD - Senior Superintendent Police Tahir Alam Khan Friday said that 47 beats had been created to prevent crime and Assistant Sub-Inspectors have been deputed in the beats to maintain record of the inhabitants of their areas.
SSP Tahir Alam while chairing a crime review meeting told that the deputed ASIs would work under the supervision of SHOs and Circle Inspectors and would carry out survey of their respective beats.
They would also maintain the record of inhabitants residing in their beats with the cooperation of the local citizens, he said.
He further said that in each beat there would include 10 educated persons of the areas and a Citizens Security Forum (CSF) would be created so that no unidentified person could get a space in the area. During the meeting, the SSP was informed that 216 nominated accused, 147 suspicious persons and 148 beggars had been arrested and 6 stolen vehicles were recovered during the last 15 days.
In seven cases, recoveries have been affected and 216 cases were registered under Shop and Security Ordinance.
Moreover, 216 cases have been sent to various courts. Cases under investigation, pending references, arrest of Proclaimed Offenders (Pos), court absconders, military deserters and crime situation in the capital also came under discussion.
The SSP showed satisfaction over the general working of the officers. He, however, said that the performance of some SHOs still required improvement.
He made it clear that those who would show extraordinary performance would be rewarded suitably. He further directed the police that the complaints lodged by the citizens should be attended promptly adding that citizens grievances should be addressed without any further delay.
He also directed the police that special attention should be paid on human violation cases. With regard to present security scenario, he stated that police officers and jawans deployed on check-post may be briefed to check the vehicles and persons boarded on them minutely at all entry points in Islamabad.
SP-Investigation Saqib Sultan Al Mehmood, SP- Saddar Nasir Aftab, SP-City Sajid Kiani, SP-Rural Tahir Ayub Khan, SP-Industrial Area, Abdul Ghaffar Qaisrani, all SDPOs, SHOs, In charge CIA and ACLC attended the meeting.
