Inflation keeps shoppers away from Sunday Bazaar

By KASHIF ABBASI October 26, 2008

ISLAMABAD - The poverty-stricken people are forced to keep away from the Sunday bazaars and other markets mainly because of the skyrocketing prices of edibles and other items of daily use as well as the deteriorating law and order situation.

The masses hit by the inflation are inclined to visit Sunday Bazaars but even there they find it impossible to buy different items that they need for their kitchen as there is no relief for them in the face of mounting financial constraints and problems.

A survey conducted by TheNation here on Sunday revealed that the large number of stalls at Weekly Bazaars were closed owing to rampant inflation while many stall holders were fleecing the customers in total disregard to the rate lists issued by Capital Development Authority.
