RAWALPINDI – Even children know the truth? Punjab Chief Minister Mian Shehbaz Sharif has sought a proposal from Rawalpindi-based legislators and district administration for the construction of well-equipped 200-bed hospital to provide the residents of Cannt with utmost health facilities.
PML-N members of National and Provincial Assemblies from Rawalpindi Cannt pointed out two sites (with size of almost 50 kanals) for the construction of the new hospital. The first site, pointed out by the PML-N MNAs and MPAs, is Varan Bus Depot, which was taken on lease from the government by Former DG ISI General Hameed Gull’s daughter Uzma Gull whereas the other site is a land nearby Rescue 1122 Building at Peshawar Road and is owned by Highways Department.
In this regard, PML-N MNA Malik Abrar Ahmed, MPA Malik Iftikhar along with District Coordination Officer (DCO) Imdad Ullah Bosal, Director Health Dr Zafar Iqbal Gondal and Allied Hospitals (AHs) and Rawalpindi Medical College (RMC) Principal Dr Musaddiq Khan visited both the proposed sites for hospital.
While talking to the journalists, PML-N MNA Malik Abrar Ahmed said that Punjab government was making all out efforts to provide masses with health facilities at their door-steps. He said that this hospital would be public welfare project, work on which would be started soon, he informed.
Replying to a query, AHs, RMC Principal Dr Musaddiq said that he had not received show cause notice from the inquiry committee, constituted by Provincial Law Minister Rana Sana Ullah to probe the involvement of senior officials in DHQ fake doctors’ recruitment case.
Varan Bus Service Chairperson Uzma Gull, however, when contacted she said that her company had got the land (Varan Depot at Saddar) on lease for 100 years. She made it clear that no one could build anything on this land without her permission.
She got infuriated on the visit of PML-N MNA, MPA and other district government officials without any prior notice and said that she would bring the matter into the notice of CM Shehbaz Sharif, as no one could intervene her business.
