RAWALPINDI - City Amir Jammat-e-Islami Raja Abdul Waheed Advocate has termed the ongoing military offensive in Dir district against the Taliban as a violation of peace accord, inked by the government with the Taliban.
“It seems that the federal government has launched the fresh operation under the mounting pressure of US, which is remorseful,” he added.
More than half million people were displaced owing to the Swat operation and now due to this new adventure further Dir citizens would meet with the same fate, he further added.
He also accused President Asif Ali Zardari that for his consent to the military operation “just to make Americans happy before his departure for his scheduled visit to US.” Killing of his own countrymen for the sake of aid is a great sin, he said with addition that it’s the need of the hour to convene a national conference to devise a consensus policy regarding war on terror, as the consultation of all political and religious parties is must regarding the matter, he added.
