By NAVEED BUTT September 27, 2008

The meeting directed the CDA to expedite installation of surveillance cameras at all crucial and strategic points without any further delay. It also directed the authority to explore ways and means of increasing civil society liaison with the police on the pattern of CLPC.

The meeting expressed its concern over fast growing encroachments and rapidly cropping up Katchi Abadies inside the Islamabad Capital Territory, particularly in the Bari Imam, which is in the immediate vicinity of the President House, Prime Minister House and the Parliament House, and the Pirwadhai area.

It observed that the slums and Katchi Abadies were crime-infested which needed to be checked and monitored regularly in view of prevailing security environment to avert any major disaster.

Matters relating to the parking of the visitors’ vehicles at the Parliament Lodges also came up for discussion during the meeting.

Secretary Senate Raja Muhammad Amin, IG Islamabad, Deputy Commissioner Islamabad and other senior officials from the Islamabad administration and CDA among others attended the meeting.
