'Health sector key to govt's agenda for social uplift'

ISLAMABAD (APP) - Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting and Health Sherry Rehman said on Friday that health sector is key to the government’s agenda for social sector development.

“Our government is strongly committed to facilitating an efficient, accessible and affordable health system to respond to the health care needs of the nation,” the Minister said during a meeting with a visiting US delegation.

The delegation from the US Chamber of Commerce led by Daniel W. Christman, the chamber’s Senior Vice President for International Affairs, called on the federal minister here.

Talking about the issues and challenges concerning the health sector of Pakistan Sherry Rehman said that low resource input, lack of policy framework and absence of linkages between various components of health delivery mechanism are key challenges restricting the growth and service delivery capacity of the country’s health sector.
