'Health sector key to govt's agenda for social uplift'

“The current government has initiated the process of correcting the distortions in the health sector. We are working on creating and strengthening linkages between structures and components of the health sector. We are also revisiting our vertical programmes to identify weak areas and improve their efficiency and scope.”

The Minister informed the US delegation that a National Task Force on Health Policy was constituted weeks after the new government was formed. “The task force is working on developing a framework to guide and set direction for the broad areas of country’s health sector. We have participation from leading physicians and public health representatives from all across the country. Their recommendations will cover the broad spectrum of concerns and challenges related to the health sector,” she added.
