SA okays renaming Nawabshah after Benazir Bhutto

After passing the bill, PPP member Dr. Sikandar Mahendaro moved a resolution, thereby requesting the chair to relax relevant rules, enabling him to table a resolution. After relaxation of rules Dr. Mahendaro moved that,” this assembly resolves and recommend to the government to approach the federal government to issue official passport to the members of Sindh Assembly and their family as contemplated under article 4 of the constitution”. The resolution was unanimously carried in the house after discussion.
The Law minister through another motion requested the chair to defer constitution of the standing and other committees till the next session. The motion was approved.
Minister for Culture Sasui Palejo drew the attention of the house towards what she dubbed the apathy of Dow Medical University authorities for not allowing admission to disabled student Ayesha Piracha, though the girl qualified on merit. Terming the incident as unfortunate, Shazia Marri demanded that the girl should be granted admission.
Minister for Health Dr. Saghir Ansari informed the house that Governor Dr. Ishrat ul Ebad Khan has taken strong notice of the incident and assured the house that the issue would be resolved. Education Minister Pir Mazharul Haq assured that the issue would be resolved amicably.
