Lyari became criminal area after being neglected of development and employment for many decades, Mirza said and added peace could be restored in Lyari with only development and giving jobs to the locals.

He said, “Previous government treated old Karachi or Kolachi Lyari Town as remote area of Thatta and never paid due attention towards development here, turning the area a criminals’ hideout and raising drug addicts”.

PPP-led government has started development process in Lyari besides giving jobs to locals at large level, the minister said.
