'Q' will stand by President: Memon

Source: OUR STAFF REPORTER June 3, 2008

The PML President Chaudhary Shujaat Hussain accepted the mandate the opponent parties won and declared that Muslim League will play a positive role in the Parliament.

Keeping with democratic traditions, he said, the Muslim League gave the vote of confidence to the Prime Minister.

Senator Memon claimed that in the February 2008 elections, PPP polled 10 million (33 percent) votes, while PML received 8 million (24 percent) votes while the third party which claim they won popular vote, got 6 million (24 percent) votes.

"There is not a single party which could form government single-handedly", he added.

Nisar Memon said that while carrying issues, the Army should not be involved in politics by highlighting baseless things.

He said the President at the very outset declared that he will go by the Constitution and he has very good working relationship with the Prime Minister but certain elements wanted to sabotage the same.
