Chakki atta price exceeds Rs 35 per kg
By SADIA SAEED October 3, 2008 Earlier, during Ramazan, the provincial food department of Sindh had started releasing wheat quota to 69 flour mills and 135 Atta Chakies of the City while government had set Rs22.50 per kg and Rs24.50 per kg ex-mill rate for them while retail price of flour of mills would be Rs23.50 per kg and Rs25.50 per kg of chaki atta.
The provincial Secretary of Food Department of Sindh on Monday during separate meetings with the office-bearers of Flourmills Association and Karachi Atta Chaki Association notified the new prices of the staple food.
The government has increased the weekly wheat quota for both mills and chakkis as 13834 tons are fixed for flour mills and 774 tons for atta chakkis of the provincial capital at same issue price of Rs1935/100kg.
Meanwhile, the price of wheat in open market was observed Rs2360-100 kg which was Rs425 more than the government fixed price of Rs1935-100 kg of wheat being released to flour mills and atta chakkis.
