PPP leaders split over alliance with 'Q'
By FAHEEM RAZA October 3, 2008 It is worth mentioning here that before holding the 2007-08 election, Sherazi brethren approached PPP slain chairperson Benazir Bhutto of joining the PPP but she refused them adding that this is decided by the local leadership of Thatta and Sindh PPP leaders .
The powerful Sherazi brethren who had large vote banks in Thatta but after the martyrdom of Benazir Bhutto their vote bank had badly affected and they won only one National Assembly seat and two provincial assemblies’ seats from the Thatta district in February 18 election. In Presidential election, Sherazi brethren supported Asif Ali Zardari and tried their every possible effort to join the PPP but local PPP leaders of Thatta and Sindh provincial minister, Sassi Palejo, had strongly opposed the bid of Sherazi brethren of joining the PPP.
It’s recalled here that after the martyrdom of Benazir Bhutto, Zardari started his February 2008 election campaign from the Thatta district and termed Sherazi brethren wicked who made the lives of PPP supporters miserable and registered countless cases against the PPP workers in Thatta.
