World Animal Day marked

KARACHI- (PR) Like other parts of the world, World Animal Day was celebrated in the metropolis with the sense of responsibility where great professionals threw light on the issues of animals. Its aim is to raise awareness regarding animal rights and their care among the animal owners and civil society including relevant stakeholders.
The Brooke in collaboration with Department of Livestock & Fisheries Govt. of Sindh and PAWS organised an event and celebrated the day in Richmond Crawford Veterinary Hospital, Karachi.
The Brooke (Pakistan) is the largest animal welfare organisation in the country and providing great and sincere services round about twelve districts of the country for the welfare of horses, donkeys and mules. The organisation provides veterinary treatment and free services for the animals and arranges training in animal care and husbandry for the owners who depend on the working equine for their livelihood. It works in collaboration with the line departments to improve skill and knowledge of staff in equine management and practices. Participants of the event included Dr Gulfam A. Syed Provincial Coordinator Farmer Associate Pakistan, Maheen Zia Director and Mahera Omar CEO, Pakistan Animal Welfare Society (PAWS), Dr Khalid Qayamkhani Vice President PVMA Sindh, Dr Chander Kumar of RCVH, representative of equine owners, Dr Sher Nawaz, Dr Mohammad Kashif and Dr Niamatullah Somroo from The Brooke South Region. Dr Sher Nawaz Program Manager The Brooke South Region said in his briefing that the aim of the event and Brooke activities with equine owners/stakeholders in the Region.
